About Us

The Decent Work Institute (ITD in Portuguese) is a civil society organization based in Salvador-Bahia that implements activities all over the country with the goal of promoting human rights in the world of work, decent work, and sustainable development, focusing on the socioeconomic integration of vulnerable people, groups, and communities.

History

Created in January 2019, ITD was founded by and is composed of people that believe in a fairer, more dignified and equitable world of work. Since its creation, ITD has grown to include specialists in several topics related to the world of work among its associates, who are committed to upholding human rights; promoting decent work and sustainable development; encouraging practices that integrate social, economic, and environmental aspects; holding social dialogue as the only legitimate form of conflict resolution and overcoming disputes; promoting channels through which workers, employers, and the public sector can practice such dialogue; stimulating cooperation between public and private entities, the Justice system and civil society; and promoting practices that encourage equality in opportunities and treatment.
To reach its goal, ITD has opted to work in diversified areas, maintaining active communication with actors from the world of work, participating in several spaces of dialogue and articulation, generating knowledge, and implementing programs, projects, and activities through own-initiative initiative as well as with partnering institutions that share its values and goals.
